Over 1,000 pieces of candy ....

and we only hand out one piece to each trick or treater. Yeah, a lot of kids from Chicago come to Oak Park. But one thousand?

WOW.

But I gotta say, it's our own fault. Coz we got the best house in the neighborhood! Our neighbors got the brilliant idea to have our second block party on October 31st, so the kids could go up and down and across the street without any worries.

And we had the best cast of characters. This year's list included:
(Clockwise from bottom left)
Combo priest/Jason.........................................Scott
Demonhead........................................................Amy
Trina the Child-Eating Witch..........................Jen
Malcolm, pet zombie at large..........................Mark
Death..................................................................Jerry
The Grim Reaper..............................................Jay
Corpse Bride......................................................Julie
Classy Corpse Man...........................................Fake Dummy

The best quote I heard I think was "You all should be TV actors! You're damn scary!"
What was your favorite? Speak up ....

I think my favorite was when I heard a 10-year old boy say, while it was still daylight out, "Man what are you doing? You're gonna be in my dreams tonight!"

We had a banner year on the 800 block of Clarence in Oak Park--25 trick-or-treaters. It all depends on where you live and whether or not a parochial school takes up 1/3 of the block.

"Aw-man, this is a real haunted house"
or......
Mom's and Dad's picking up their screaming crying children to get closer to their worst nightmares....can we call DCFS?

My favorite would have to be the group of kids who stood at the bottom of the stairs looking at me and wondering if I was real: "What do you mean? ... of course he's real, look at his shoes!"

The parenting award goes to the lady who made her kid go stand next to the monster for a picture.

My favorite quotes are just the many screams and cries. They make me warm inside.

I loved to see the faces on some of the older kids right before I lurched at them. "Awe...He ain't real...He ain't real...He ain't...Whooooaaahhhhh!!!" And then they took off down the street!!

Next year for the ones that do not provide the normal "Trick or Treat" chant we should play a trick. When they open their "goodie bag" reach in and say TRICK!!! Muah-ha!!! Muah-ha-ha!!! Muah-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaah!!!
